This is the project of a 2000sf rooftop addition in NYC completed in 2003.

The design of the roof of the existing school tower and the enclosure of the adjacent rooftop terrace were planned to preserve the view of Lower Manhattan.

A glass pyramid, whose top is reachable through the stepped bookcase on the perimeter of the tower, a glass cube shaded by horizontal wood slats and a glass and wood  vertical box are the architectural  elements of this project.

A wooden stair hanging from the roof structure of the glass box provides the link with the apartments floor below.
