The interlocking of old and new spaces in this residence’s design promotes relaxed enjoyment of the exotic locale, while accommodating privacy and open entertaining spaces. The layout is organized around the original main building, completely re-mastered to suggest the idea of a ship with three decks.

Traditional vernacular and innovative contemporary features are used equally throughout the house and feature contemporary shapes of translucent fiber reinforced resin composites, an internally lit, double-walled master bathroom module contrasting with the vintage floors, and vibrant colors of glass canes used inside the traditional wood carabottino structure of gates, railings and doors.

The house is an organic composition based on open, informal spaces branching out to incorporate nature through the dissolution of any boundaries, fusing architecture and landscape.
